Troops kill scores, repel ISWAP attack on Gamboru Ngala

The troops of 3 Battalion, 22 Task Force Brigade on Wednesday morning thwarted an attempt by Boko Haram to attack Gamboru Ngala in Borno State.

Soldiers overwhelmed the insurgents with superior firepower.

Military sources, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad said that the terrorists advanced towards the town from various locations in an attempt to penetrate the most populous northern town.

The sources said:” troops of 3 Battalion on operation Hadin Kai had successfully repelled ISWAP’ attack at Gamboru Ngala, Borno State early this morning.

He said “some of the terrorists were neutralised during the encounter while other members of the group fled following a superior fire power from the troops.

ISWAP in its latest broadcast had promised to carry out attacks in order to scuttled the forth coming elections.

The Military high Command in Borno State under the leadership of Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Ali, reiterated its readiness to provide the required security during and after the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections.
