Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, the Minister for Education,
Mallam Adamu Adamu were among guests expected to attend the formal opening ceremony of the 79th National Islamic Vacation Course (IVC) in Ilorin.
Also expected to grace the occasion were some state governors and Islamic scholars.
Justice Idris Haroon, the former Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Ilorin and Chairman, Council of Hosting Fathers and Mentors of the IVC stated this during a news conference in Ilorin.
He stated that the opening ceremony will commence from December 22 to 24, adding that the 2022 National IVC will be hosted by Zone A of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Ilorin.
According to him, the theme of the National IVC is: “The New Dawn: MSSN on Call” saying that it would be the first time IVC would be held in Kwara, even though MSSN had a National Conference in Ilorin in the early 70s.
He appealed to Muslim parents to release their children and wards for the forthcoming IVC, saying that the course will enrich the knowledge of the participants and broaden their Islamic awareness.
Haroon noted that opportunities would be available for Muslim Students to fraternize with brothers and sisters in Islam to learn more.
“This IVC has also been structured to accomplish and make the first-time experience of attendees in Kwara an experience to remember for good.
“Security agencies and all well-meaning members of our community have worked mutually to ensure the success of this hosting right given to us by Allah (AW).
“We pray Almighty Allah will continue to grant all our requests to have a successful hosting in all ramifications.
“We are equally expecting many Muslims from various walks of life who have evolved
through the training and mentoring structures of the MSSN,” he said.
Also speaking, Dr Mohammed Suleiman, the IVC Organiser assert that Kwara is peaceful, with conducive atmosphere to host the National event.
According to him, the the report going round on social media about bandits activities in the State is false.
