Sanwo-Olu seeks peaceful co-existence as C&S celebrates centenary

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has called for continued peaceful existence and religious tolerance among residents  of the state.

Sanwo-Olu made the call on Thursday at the end of a week-long activities  by the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Society to commemorate its centenary.

The event which held at Badagry, Lagos State had as its theme: “Who Shall I Send”.

Sanwo-Olu was represented by the Secretary to Lagos State Government, Mrs Abimbola Hundeyin.

He said that continued peace and harmony among  the residents would enable the state to continue to record progress and serve the residents well.

He called on the leaders of the church to emulate its Founder,  Christiana Abimbola Emmanuel, in  following the dictates of the Bible.

“My word is that leaders and members should emulate our mother in the Lord,” he said.

Mr Sule Tolani, the Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, also urged  continued religious  tolerance  in the state.

Tolani said that the state had continued to enjoy peace because of a  foundation of peaceful coexistence laid  by past  administrations and  built on by the Sanwo-Olu-led administration.

In his sermon,  Bishop Oluwademilade Akapata of the C&S Unification Church admonished members of the church to remain steadfast in faith and refrain from sin.

Akapata urged them to  please God in their actions and reactions.

“Inspire intercessors and visioners in the church to take after the church founders and sustain the legacy that has kept us this far.

“We need to pray for peace in Nigeria, for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and for religious harmony in the country,” he said.

The Chairman of the church’s centenary celebration planning committee, Senior Apostle Cornelius Ojelabi, said that 100 years of existence would require renewed commitment to evangelism, humanitarian work and mission of the church.

“The time to embrace the future is now.

“Let us build on the good legacy so that  generations yet unborn will have something to say about us in the next 100 years,” Ojelabi,  also the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, said. (NAN)
