Delta Gov swears in 6 SAs, demands loyalty

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State in Asaba, swore in six Special Advisers with a charge to them to remain loyal to the state.

The new special advisers are Mr Ramson Ikweki, Mr Dimaro Progress, Chief Barry Gbe, Mr George Orogun, Mr Nicholas Ojei, and Chief Jeffery Azagba.

Oborevwori said that the appointment of the Special Advisers was a clear demonstration of his administration’s sincere drive to energise the machinery of government.

“I sincerely appeal to all the new appointees and indeed, all public officers, that their loyalty should be to the state through this administration rather than seeing themselves as representatives of ethnic backgrounds and narrow political and social interests.

“As Special Advisers, you have a sacred role to play in rendering objective, sound and frank advice to me and your chief executives.

“It is important for you to adhere strictly to your oaths of office, including familiarising yourselves with the Constitution, financial regulations and other extant rules of public office.

“This way, you will be able to perform your duties creditably without causing this administration any embarrassment.

“We do not want to be distracted from our cardinal objective of leaving Delta State, better than we met it,” he said.

He noted that the appointees were  qualified and worthy persons recognised from the pool of the vast array of skilled manpower readily available in the State.

The governor said that the appointments would strengthen the implementation of the policies and programmes of his administration.

He said that the appointment of more Special Advisers was aimed at beefing up the executive capacity of the government.

Oborevwori said that his administration was sincerely committed to succeeding in the task of turning around the lives of the people of  Delta for the better.

The governor noted that the M.O.R.E Agenda of his administration was not mere hype.

“It is a well thought out agenda, which captures the policies and programmes of this administration aimed at comprehensively confronting the challenges of sustainable development headlong.

“Please, be prepared to inject fresh ideas into the implementation and successful outcomes of the Agenda.

“We owe our people the duty of meeting their yearnings. Please be part of this move to positively impact the lives of our people”.

He appealed to them to discharge their duties with honesty and transparency, adding that they should foster good and cordial relationship with the chief executives of ministries and other functionaries of government in the course of performing  their duties.

Oborevwori congratulated and urged them to carry out their duties with a great sense of responsibility, decorum and integrity.

“As Special Advisers, you have a duty to be discreet and see your offices as complementary rather than competitive, with those of the various chief executives of the administration”.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, Mr George Orogun thanked the governor for finding them worthy to serve.

He pledged their commitment to contribute  meaningfully towards the advancement of the M.O.R.E Agenda of the state government.

Orogun noted that the giant strides of the Oborevwori-led administration in the past eight months were commendable.

He called on the people to rally round the present administration for accelerated transformation of the state. NAN
