The Mbaise Peoples Convention was shut down by the police on the request of the hotel management due to what they consider as infractions.
The organisers said they paid $92,000 (69million naira) to the hotel owners for the hall, food, drinks and other logistics.
The payment was for an estimated number of 500 guests and the event was to end at 11pm according to signed agreements.
While the event was ongoing, the hotel manager walked in with the Police and asked everyone to leave the hall, declaring the event over.
Note that they made sure they had taken their food first before shutting down the event.
The reason given was that the guests had outnumbered the 500 paid for and that the event was already running late into the night.
