Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has expressed sadness and shock at the death of the great jurist retired Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore.
Belgore, who was until his recent retirement the presiding Justice of the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal, died on Tuesday night.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Rafiu Ajakaye in Ilorin.
“The Governor sends his heartfelt condolences to the entire Ilorin Emirate whose illustrious son the jurist was, to the bar and the bench, and to the Belgores who have lost a rare gem.
“Justice Belgore was a legal giant and a foremost community leader, who offered his shoulder for many to lean on.
“AbdulRazaq asks Allaah to forgive Justice Belgore his shortcomings, admit him to al-Jannah Firdaus, and give fortitude to the Belgores and everyone who mourns him,” the statement said
Also the Speaker, of Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has described the death of the jurist as a colossal loss.
In a statement issued by the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, Danladi-Salihu commiserated with the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Belgore family, and the entire Ilorin Emirate on the passing of one of their distinguished sons.
He urged the Emir of Ilorin, the Belgore family, and the Ilorin community to take heart in this moment of grief and to be comforted by the enviable and impactful life the late legal luminary lived both at national and international levels.
The Speaker asked Allah in His infinite mercy to forgive the shortcomings of the late Justice Belgore and admitted him into the lofty place in Aljanat Fridaos.
Until his death, Justice Belgore was the National President, of Darul-Uloom Alumni an offshoot of the famous Arabic Training Centre, Markaz Agege, Lagos.
Sen. Saliu Mustapha representing Kwara Central Senatorial District and Turaki of Ilorin expressed grief over the demise of Justice Belgore, who passed on Tuesday night.
The Senator, in a condolence message personally signed by him, said that the late renowned jurist lived and served the country with his knowledge of the law.
He described the late Belgore as a distinguished jurist and an exemplary member of the bench.
Senator Mustapha noted that the late Justice Ahmad Belgore contributed immensely to the development of his community and the state in general.
He recalled his years of service in the judiciary where he worked with utmost dedication and bowed out in glory last year.
He equally condoled the Belgore family, Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, the people of Balogun Fulani constituency, associates and friends of the deceased over the death of this illustrious son of the Ilorin emirate and a great bencher.
Mustapha prayed to Almighty Allah to grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Sen Mustapha, therefore, prayed to Allah to overlook his misdeeds and grant him eternal rest
