Hon Regina Akume chides SGF, return to Christianity, follow Christ

The lawmaker representing Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Mrs Regina Akume, has urged her husband, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, to fully return to Christianity, stressing that his achievements in life were rooted in his Christian faith.

Mrs Akume made the appeal in a viral video recorded during the wedding reception of the SGF’s son, held on Sunday in Makurdi, Benue State. Senator Akume celebrated his 72nd birthday anniversary last weekend.

“I pray that the Lord will increase his years, grant him good health of mind and body, and give him clarity in thinking and doing things rightly,” she said.

Mrs Akume further emphasised that Christianity played a central role in her husband’s rise to prominence, cautioning against abandoning the faith.

“And he should remember that he is a Christian, and it is Christianity that brought him this far. To abandon Christianity now and pursue anything else, he will not be successful,” she stated.

She advised him directly: “So my advice to him is to come back to Christianity and follow the line of Christ.”

“We came all the way to the SGF position not through any other means but through Jesus Christ.
And Jesus Christ is still alive and still working, doing things for us. So I wish that he will come back to Christianity,” Mrs Akume said.
