The attention of the Benue Coalition Movement has been drawn to circulating rumours suggesting that Senator Gabriel Torwua Suswam, a respected leader within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
We categorically state that these rumours are false, baseless, and intended to mislead the public. Senator Suswam remains a committed member of the ADC, steadfast in his vision to strengthen democratic governance, promote unity, and deliver meaningful development to the people of Benue State and Nigeria at large.
Speaking on behalf of the Coalition, Hon. Gbe Benjamin Oraduen, a House of Representatives aspirant for Vandeikya/Konshisha federal constituency, described the rumours as “a calculated distraction by political opponents who feel threatened by the growing acceptance of the ADC under the leadership of Senator Suswam.” He reaffirmed the Senator’s loyalty to the party, noting that “Senator Suswam has always stood for integrity, consistency, and service to the people, not political opportunism.”
Also reacting, Hon. Peter Abayol, a House of Representatives aspirant for Kwande/Ushongo federal constituency, emphasized that “the ADC in Benue is united and focused on the task ahead. Senator Suswam remains the pillar of progressive politics in the state, and his commitment to the party’s ideals is unquestionable.”
In her remarks, Hon. Iveren Ukula (Queen Amina), a Senatorial aspirant for Benue North West senatorial district, lauded Senator Suswam’s leadership style, stating that “his politics is people-centered, anchored on transparency and inclusion. The notion that he would abandon the ADC’s transformative agenda for political expediency is both illogical and mischievous.”
Similarly, Hon. Emmanuel Hangeior, a House of Assembly aspirant for Mata State Constituency, urged supporters of the ADC to disregard what he termed “cheap propaganda from detractors.” He added that “Senator Suswam’s focus is on building structures that will ensure sustainable development and youth empowerment across Benue State, not on jumping ship.”
The Benue Coalition Movement therefore calls on the general public, the media, and supporters of the ADC to ignore these unfounded reports. We remain united under the purposeful leadership of Senator Gabriel Suswam and will continue to work toward a better and more prosperous Benue State.
Signed:
Benue Coalition Movement
