The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has deployed its personnel to various petrol stations to maintain order, following scarcity of petrol across the state.
Mr Adekunle Ajibade, South-West Zonal Commander of TRACE, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Ota, that the deployment became necessary to prevent breakdown of law and order.
According to him, the Chief Executive Officer of TRACE, Seni Ogunyemi, has ordered that officials of TRACE should be deployed to various filling stations to ensure orderliness.
Ajibade said people were parking their vehicles indiscriminately on the road to buy petrol as a result of the scarcity of the product.
“We are appealing to motorists to desist from parking indiscriminately on the highway when buying petrol to prevent accident.
“In addition, the personnel should ensure that motorists properly park while buying petrol so that they will not affect movement of other road users,” he said.
Ajibade admonished the people to refrain from using jerry cans to buy petrol and keeping same in their vehicles or at their homes.
This, he said, would help to reduce fire incidents during the current fuel scarcity in the state
