Again, troops repel ISWAP attacks, several killed, injured

The terrorist group, ISWAP had claimed that Heavy losses were inflicted on the ranks of the African Coalition MNJTF forces, following violent clashes with Islamic State fighters in north-eastern Nigeria.

According to sources, the fierce clashes erupted on Sunday between Islamic State fighters and the African coalition forces, which have been trying for nearly two weeks to infiltrate the vicinity of the “Lake” area in Borno province.

They said that the two fighters blew up their cars at the enemy forces, which resulted in the destruction of 3 vehicles and the killing and wounding of those in them. It is noteworthy that similar clashes erupted between the two sides last Wednesday (May 10), and there was also a martyrdom attack, which caused the death and injury of many coalition forces.

Verdict:  ISWAP terrorists made an audacious attempt to infiltrate the advancing troops harbor using a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), at about 101900 hours May 2023 in Arege but the bomber was taken out 300 meters to them. 

The troops deployed by the Air Task Force to chase the fleeing terrorists where two hilux trucks conveying fighters were destroyed, killing at least 10 of the occupant.

On Sunday May 14, 2023, the troops comprising of Sector 3 and Sector  4 Multi-National Joint Task Force(MNJTF), came under twin attack by a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), while advancing towards ISWAP camp in Tunbum Reza. 

Three soldiers were killed and 10 others injured while repelling the attack.  Score Card: Total number of ISWAP Killed 11 Total number of troops killed 3 Total number of troops wounded 10 Final Scores 8 – 3
