It took the intervention of Police operatives at the venue of the Presidential Election Tribunal to save the crowd of Labour Party supporters from manhandling the factional party chairman, Mr Lamidi Apapa, at the resumed hearing of the petition filed by the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi in Abuja.
Apapa who arrived early for the commencement of hearing in the suit first engaged in arguments with the other faction of the party over seating arrangement. This had set the pace for subsequent confrontations that ensued when the Tribunal rejected the two factions.
Party supporters who were at the tribunal eventually descended on Apapa, booed him out of the tribunal venue before embarking on physical attack but for the presence of Police who helped into safety.
He was booed with shouts of Ole, Ole meaning thief by the supporters.
The case has however been adjourned to Friday by the tribunal.
