Kogi State Chief Judge, Justice Josiah Majebi, has unveiled a judgement enforcement outfit for the High Court’s Directorate of Process, to boost public awareness.
Speaking on Monday at the High Court headquarters, Majebi said the outfit would prevent misconceptions when officers discharge duties against judgement debtors.
He said the step followed repeated public misunderstanding of enforcement officers while carrying out legitimate court assignments.
Majebi reaffirmed his commitment to reforms aimed at improving efficiency, professionalism and continuity within the state judiciary.
“The decision to carve out the process unit and elevate it to a full directorate has proven to be a sound policy choice.
“It has improved performance and professionalism, just as similar reforms across other directorates have raised operational standards,” Majebi added.
He said directorates, supervised by designated judges, were created to enhance collaboration, problem-solving and continuity in judicial administration.
According to him, the structure allows directorates to function independently while receiving guidance when necessary.
Majebi said the initiative by the directorate’s DCR, Samuel Salami, couldn’t have come at a better time.
“With this inauguration, misconceiving officers on legitimate duties under ignorance is no longer tolerable,” he said.
The Chief Judge commended the directorate’s leadership for diligence, transparency and resilience in demanding, risk-prone assignments.
He disclosed plans to establish ICT and security directorates, subject to funding, to strengthen court operations and internal security.
Majebi urged all departments to adopt initiatives promoting unity, professionalism and strong institutional identity within and outside the judiciary. (NAN)
