Authorities of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), have expelled 14 students of the institution, including five 500 Level students, over various offenses bordering on examination malpractices.
A statement by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, on Monday, disclosed that the students were expelled for examination malpractices.
The statement also said that the Vice Chancellor’s approval of their expulsion was a sequel to the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee at its 219th meeting held on Wednesday and Thursday, January 10 and 11, 2024 respectively.
The expelled students also include 400 Level, 300 Level, and 100 Level students.
The affected students were drawn from Faculties/Departments such as Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries; Agriculture/Agricultural
Extension and Rural Development; and Arts/Linguistics and Nigerian Languages.
Those expelled also included students from CIS/Library and Information Science, CIS/ Telecommunication Science; Education/Adult and
Primary Education Studies; Engineering and Tech/Electrical
and Electronic Engineering; Engr and Tech/ Materials and Metallurgical Engineering as well as Life Science/Zoology.
The affected students were 500-level Lateef Lukman Olayemi of the
Dept: Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries with Matric No:17/10AB029, and 500 level Kuranga Abdulmuiz Olalekan of the Dept of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development with Matric No:17/10AC462.
Others were 100 level Adebisi Janet Bosede of the Dept of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages with Matric No:21/15CB024, Ogundijo Abdulmalik Akinkunmi (500 level) of the Dept of CIS/Library and
Information Science with Matric No:20/52HJ070, and Ashekun Oladiji Quadri (400 level) also of the Dept of CIS/ Telecommunication
Science with Matric No:18/52HP025
Also expelled for examination malpractice were Eqwudah Lucky Ojonumba, 300 level of the Dept of Education /Adult and
Primary Education Studies with Matric No:19/ 25PK049 and Musa Mohammed Asuku, 500 level of the Dept of Electrical/Electronic Engineering with Matric No:16/30GC073
Another 500-level student, Ahmed Saddam Opeyemi of the Dept of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering with Matric No:18/30GN082 was expelled for examination malpractice, while Ayinla Jamiu Olaitan (400 level) of the Dept of Zoology with Matric No:17/55EK068 was also expelled for examination malpractice.
