A 20-year old man, Usman Ibrahim and a teenager, Abdulsalam Balarabe, were on Thursday arraigned before a Lugbe Grade One Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a cell phone valued N216, 800.
Ibrahim and Balarabe whose addresses were not given, are being charged with joint act, belonging to a gang of thieves and theft.
The Prosecutor, Mr E. A. Nnamani, told the court that the complainant, Nurah Abdullahi of Garki 2, Abuja, reported the matter at the Garki Police Station on March 24.
Nnamani said that the complainant was attacked at Garki while on his way home and dispossessed of his cell phone valued N216, 800.
He said that during investigations, the police discovered that the defendants belonged to a gang of thieves operating within Garki community.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 79, 360 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Malam Aliyu Kagarko, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
The judge adjourned the case until April 6 for hearing. (NAN)
