The Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, 7 Division Garison of the Nigerian Army have arrested a 15 man notorious Malian criminal gangs after a major crackdown on gang related activity in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
According to reports, the arrest followed investigations into reports of activities of the gangs in Gwange, Umarari and Jajeri areas of MMC Local Government Areas of Maiduguri.
The criminals had been attacking citizens and snatching their mobile phones and other belongings, a situation which resulted in loss of several lives and severe injuries inflicted on innocent citizens in the state.
Disturbed by the spate of urban gangsterism perpetrated by criminal gangs by residents of Maiduguri, who demanded aggressive action, prompted the troops to conduct a sting Operation at the identified areas.
During the operations,15 suspects were apprehended at about 11:40 p.m. on 9, June 2023.
“Items recovered from the suspects include; one pump action gun, one Axe, one Jack knife and 5 phones.
