The Joint forces of the Nigerian troops have repelled an attack of the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a Police outpost in Jakana, Kaga Local Government in Borno State.
Intelligence sources, said that the attack on the police station began about 2:30 am, when the terrorists mounted their GPMG and began shooting sporadically at the police location.
The sources said that the police stationed at the unit swiftly responded, resulting in a heavy gun battle which lasted for about 30 minutes with the troops deployed to protect the community.
He said that troops of the 29 Task Force brigade fighting patrol were dispatched to the scene and assisted the police in repelling the attack, after which they overwhelmed the terrorists, forcing them to flee.
The troops chased the terrorists towards their withdrawal route and recovered bullet proof vest and two magazines. The source, however, said No casualty was recorded in the attack.
