Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brig Gen Muhammed Kaku Fadah,
has called on Corps members to take advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme of the scheme and acquire skills of their choice.
The DG said this on Sunday evening when he paid a working visit to the
NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp at Yikpata, Edu Local government of
Kwara State.
A statement by the NYSC spokesman, Oladipo Morakinyo in Ilorin on
Monday said the DG was at the camp to address the 2022 Batch B Stream
I Corps members currently undergoing orientation courses in the Kwara
State.
According to him, there are no longer enough white-collar jobs in the
country that can go around the hundreds of thousands of Nigerian
graduates.
Fadah also urged the Corps members to be security conscious all
through their service year.
He advised them to always apply all the security tips they would learn
in the course of the orientation exercise.
The DG urged them to be disciplined and worthy ambassadors of their
various homes and families.
According to him, the whole essence of the orientation exercise was to
instill discipline and prepare them for the national service.
In her address of welcome, the State Coordinator, Mrs Francisca
Olaleye told the DG that 1, 558 Corps members were registered before
the close of the registration exercise.
She also told the DG that the Corps members have demonstrated a high
level of discipline since the commencement of the exercise.
According to the state coordinator, the Corps members were in very
high spirits, and highly enthusiastic to serve their fatherland.
The director-general was accompanied by the Director, Special Duties,
Alhaji Abubakar Musa, and the Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr
Eddy Megwa.
