NAHCON defends selection of Hajj 2025 ad hoc staff as credible

Commissioner for Policy, Personnel, and Finance National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Mr Aliyu Abdulrazaq, has described the selection process of ad hoc staff for  the 2025 Hajj operations as transparent and credible.

In a statement while reacting to allegations of nepotism, ethnic and sectional bias reported in some sections of the media Mr Abdulrazaq said it was not true some media reports that claimed racketeering and unscrupulous practices, rocked the selection process at NAHCON.

The commissioner dismissed claims that top officials of NAHCON, including himsel favoured staff members from the South-South region in the selection process for the 2025 Hajj operation.

Abdulrazaq said that the allegation started making the rounds after the NAHCON Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, inaugurated the Principal Officers of the National Medical Team (NMT) and its Steering Committee for the upcoming 2025 Hajj.

Abdulrazaq, however, described the claims as baseless.

”NAHCON’s total workforce is 420 staff members, fewer than 10 members of staff are from the South-South, representing less than one per cent of the total personnel.

“The entire workforce of the National Hajj Commission is 420 and the South-South has less than 10 in the entire country. There is a need for federal character balancing,” he said.

The commissioner insisted that the process remained the most transparent. (NAN)
