Minister assures of ending terrorism, launches new attack helicopters

The Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has expressed optimism that the nation is close to defeating terrorism while calling on the military, paramilitary forces, and other stakeholders to unite in crushing the enemies of the country.

Speaking during the commissioning of two additional ATAK-129 attack helicopters for Operation Hadarin Daji Sector 2 Badaru said that the government is committed to ending insecurity.

The ceremony took place at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base in Katsina State, where he was accompanied by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar.

The Defence Minister also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their ongoing efforts in restoring peace and stability across the country.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, and local communities in combating terrorism and other forms of insecurity.

“These new helicopters will significantly enhance the operational capabilities of our forces in the Northwest, especially in tackling banditry, terrorism, and other security challenges.

This demonstrates the government’s commitment to equipping our military to ensure the safety and security of Nigerians,” he stated.

Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar highlighted the strategic role of the ATAK-129 helicopters in air operations.

He assured that the Nigerian Air Force would continue to provide critical air support to ground troops in their missions to neutralize threats and protect the nation.
