Ilorin residents troop out to vote for President, NASS members

Residents of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital trooped out in large numbers early on Saturday to vote for the president and National Assembly candidates of their choice.

Our correspondent that monitored the exercise in some parts of Ilorin reported that people conducted themselves peacefully as the queue up orderly for accreditation and voting.

There was also high level of compliance to restriction of vehicular movement as streets were deserted and vehicles were away from major roads in the state capital.

Electorate were enthusiastic as many of them had come out to exercise their civic rights as early as 8:00 am.

However, in some polling units, INEC officials and voting materials did not arrive on time, but voters were seen waiting for them.

In Anifowose ward 08, in Ilorin West local government area, expectant voters were already on the queue as at 8.30am waiting for INEC officials and election materials.

In some rural communities and suburb of Ilorin, commercial activities were going on as traders displaced their wares in front of their houses.

There was heavy presence of security agents on the major roads and around polling areas to maintain law and other.
