The General Officer Commanding (GOC)1 Division, Maj- Gen. Mayirenso Saraso, has restated the need for training of troops as part of efforts to curb the security challenges facing the country.
Saraso gave the Charge on Thursday in Kano at the end of a four-day Inter-Brigade combat proficiency competition of Corporal and below soldiers.
He also challenged troops to remain professional and always deploy their skills in combating the security challenges bedeviling the country.
Represented by Commander, 3 Brigade, Brig.- Gen Musa Sadiq, said that the need for enhanced and qualitative training in the army was more needed now than ever as a result of the contemporary security challenges bedeviling the nation.
According to him, the Nigerian Army continues to forge ahead and training remains the best welfare to the personnel.
“The conduct of this competition is a reaffirmation of the premium 1 Division places on effective training.
“The Division will continue to implement our training schedules in line with Army head quarters training Directives.
“Accordingly, new skills will continue to be acquired, areas of observed weaknesses will be straightened and our strength will be consolidated,” he said.
Saraso commended the participants for their hard work, urging them not to relent and try to do more in the next competition
In a remark, the Commander, 3 Brigade, Brig.- Gen. Musa Sadiq, noted that the competition was aimed at testing the team spirit, combat readiness of the officers and prepare them for the upcoming tasks.
He noted that the aims and objectives of the four-day competition had been achieved.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the proficiency competition is for personnel from the ranks of corporal and below.
The participants are drawn from 1 Division Garrison, Kaduna; 31 Artilary Brigade, Minna in Niger and the host, 3 Brigade, Kano. (NAN
