Ferscoat Secondary School has set a new standard of attainment for its learners in external examinations in order to improve on previous records and get the learners well prepared for post-secondary educational pursuits.
The school Principal, Mr. Fred Opata who disclosed this recently said that apart from the fact that the school is known for excellence, the management has adopted this new approach to build confidence in the learners for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations.
According to him: “Our target for the SS3 JAMB is 320 minimum for 20 students and by the grace of God, we will surpass that.
“Our target for WAEC is 9 A1s and recently, the Directors of Studies has also thrown a challenge to the students that can also come out with 320 scores in JAMB and 9 A1s in WAEC.
“He promised that we will give such students 3rd term free of charge. That is, whatever the students paid for third term will be refunded as a bonus or a gift from the school for achieving that feat of 320 in JAMB and 9 A1s in WAEC.
“For the JSS3 students, we follow the same pattern just as we are doing for the SS3, they will go through that same pattern for them and one thing we don’t forget is GOD.
“We have prayer and fasting sessions on Wednesdays for these learners from September till the day they will write their exams. For the SS3, JSS3 we will start the fasting from 3rd term. That is when we start for them.
“This 2nd tern is fully loaded. They will write their JAMB after the vacation of 2nd term specifically April 19-29, 2024 and we are fully ready on ground for them.
“To further strengthen their preparations for the JAMB exams, we also have the JAMB clinic which comes up on Wednesdays and Fridays.
