Ex-Minister, Akpabio, Speaker A’Ibom Assembly win senatorial seats

Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, ex-Governor Godswill Akpabio has been declared the winner for Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district.

The returning officer, Prof. Anthony Udoh, declared Sen. Godswill Akpabio of the APC as winner having polled 115,401 votes.

Udoh, in his declaration, said that Akpabio defeated his closest rival, Mr Emmanuel Enoidem of the PDP, who polled 69,838 votes

Speaker, Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Mr Anieken Bassey, who contested for the Akwa Ibom State North-East senatorial seat, has also emerged victorious.

Bassey vied for the seat on the ticket of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

The Returning Officer, Prof. Enoidem Usoro, who announced the results in Uyo on Monday, said Bassey got 98,634 votes.

His closest rival, Mr Ukpong Emaeyak Nkanga of All Progressive Party (APC), got 43,204 votes. (NAN)
