Justice Isoken Ikponmwonba of a Benin High Court, Edo State on Monday ordered the remand of a 29-year-old man for allegedly defiling a teenager.
The suspect, Adah Samson, facing a count charge of canal knowledge, was remanded at Oko Custodian Centre, Benin.
Ikponmwonba, subsequently, adjourned the case until April 10 for hearing.
The Prosecutor, I. E. Ekibade, had earlier said the suspect forcefully and unlawfully had canal knowledge of a 16-year-old girl at Oba Erediawa Street, Okpagba, off Eyean, Auchi Road, Benin.
Ekibade alleged that the suspect committed the offence on November 10, 2023.
According to the prosecution, the suspect committed an offence contrary to Section 4(1) and punishable under Section 5 of the Edo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law 2021.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. (NAN)
