Cleric tasks FG on N500bn palliative

Biodun Esan, Ilorin

The Spiritual Father and Chairman, Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Prophet Samuel Adefila Abidoye has called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure judicious use of the N500 billion palliative proposal recently approved by the National Assembly.

The spiritual father made the call on Friday on the sideline of the annual Convention and Retreat of the Evangelical Council held at Galilee Land, International Headquarters of the Church, Orile Igbon, Oyo State.

He described the N500 billion as inadequate to assuage the hardships presently confronting Nigerians as a result of the fuel subsidy removal.

Prophet Abidoye thought that the money would not be enough to cater for the over one hundred and 25 million people believed to be living in poverty.

The Spiritual Father explained that though the economic situation is seriously biting the people, called for a holistic approach to the trend to make life easier for Nigerians.

He also described as inadequate the N80,000 monthly to be paid over six months to 12 million households given the high cost of living.

He, therefore, called on President Tinubu to take immediate action to stem rising food prices and ensure sustainable food security in the country, saying; “if food is available for man, poverty would be reduced drastically”.

Abidoye welcomed the declaration of a state of emergency on food security and other measures ordered by the President.

He called for more interventions in other areas especially in electricity, education, and health to have an immediate impact on the.most vulnerable Nigerians.

The cleric admonished various state governments to follow suit with.their people-oriented palliative programs for the effect to be felt across the country, especially at the grassroots.

He applauded some state governments that have taken concrete steps to reduce school fees, increase the minimum wage for their workers,
provision of buses among others, charging those who are yet to do so to take a cue to reduce poverty across the nation.

Prophet Abidoye tasked members of the church Evangelical Council to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ using open-air preaching trickle-down evangelism, door-to-door evangelism, evangelism through sermonizing, lifestyle evangelism, friendship evangelism, and child evangelism among others.

He charged them to learn new and trending ways to win souls for Jesus Christ as the end time is fast approaching, urging the fold to stand up to the challenges and bring back lost sheep, and new converts and formulate strategies to retain them and make them heavenly candidates.

The prophet charged all Christians to be committed to God’s work and should not backslide in the journey of faith.

In his address of welcome, the Conference Supervising Evangelist, Special Apostle Evangelist Michael Oladele Adesina explained that the
15th edition of the annual convention has as its theme: “The Evangelist as God’s workman for higher ground”, taking from the book of Eph 2:10, 2 Tim 2:15-21.

Evangelist Adesina charged members to use the opportunity of the convention to be trained and got sharpened in readiness for the work of an Evangelist and allowed themselves to be filled with the Holy Spirit with the knowledge of truth and understanding.

The Chairman Convention Committee, Special Apostle Emmanuel Oladejo admonished participants to be strong in the Lord and be ready to do exploits and present themselves teachable to increase their boldness, courage, willingness, exemplary life, and passion for soul-winning for God’s kingdom.
