Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Most Rev. Stephen Mamza, has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) and the local vigilance group for rescuing two kidnapped Reverend Fathers in Adamawa State.
Mamza made the commendation at a news conference on Monday, in Yola.
The reverend fathers, Abraham Samman and Matthew Dusami of Yola and Jalingo Catholic Dioceses respectively were kidnapped on February 22.
Mamza said that the mastermind kidnapper, Tahamado Damian, 34, was not a mass server nor a cleric but a member of the church as there was a lot of misinformation with his identity.
“We are grateful for the sacrifices made by the DSS operatives and the local vigilante, who demonstrated exceptional professionalism and unwavering dedication throughout the entire rescue operation.
“I will also like to extend thanks and appreciation to the general public across the world for your prayers and unwavering support during the challenging time,” he said.
Mamza said these played a crucial role in ensuring the successful rescue of the two priests back home safely.
He added that the rescued victims have undergone intensive medical check-up and were in good health condition. (NAN)
