Atiku: I’m heartbroken by tragic boat disaster

Former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar has issued a statement mourning the tragic death of passengers in the boat mishap in Niger State.

In a statement on his official X formerly Twitter, Atiku said: “I am profoundly heartbroken by the tragic boat disaster that unfolded late Tuesday night in the Mokwa region of Niger State, claiming the precious lives of many.

“It is particularly harrowing that this calamity occurred in the shroud of night, complicating the already challenging rescue operations.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated local authorities and tireless volunteers who have risen to the occasion, valiantly engaging in the search and rescue efforts throughout the dark hours as first responders.

“In this time of immense sorrow, I share in the grief of the bereaved families and stand in solidarity with the government and people of Niger State as they navigate this unfathomable tragedy.

“To all those receiving treatment, I fervently wish for their swift recovery while offering prayers for the departed souls that they may find eternal peace. -AA
