APC Women Leaders lament, denies FG’s palliatives

……only one bag of rice, one wrapper since after election, pass vote of confidence on Ganduje

The Forum of the All Progressives Congress State Women Leaders has lament what it says is the total neglect of APC women in the various states and FCT, Abuja, declaring that the much touted palliative distributed by agents of government are heard in the news than felt by women at the grassroots.

Hon Patricia Yakubu, Forum Leader and Adamawa State APC Woman Leader, who led the APC Women Leaders from the 36 States and Abuja on a courtesy visit to APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the party’s National Secretariat lamented their neglect since after the 2023 presidential election.

Mrs Yakubu who described the State Women leaders as the closest to the largest voting bloc in any election, said that they have not been treated fairly since the election,noting that only one bag of rice and a single wrapper has reached them since the election adding that the palliative is yet to get the women leaders

“Your Excellency may note that, only 1 bag of rice and 1 paper wrapper was given to the States women leaders from the National Secretariat of the party. Nothing was given to us during Easter, the Ramadan fasting period and Salah Festivities. Even the Palliatives that was distributed was not given to the women leaders for onward distribution to the grassroots, We party women waited and waited and waited to no avail very sad” ,the forum lamented.

She stressed that the Women Leaders sacrificed so much towards the victory of the party during the 2023 elections, declaring:

” the women slept on the grass in open spaces took a great risks at Women Development Center, Abuja and almost in every state during Electioneering Period to ensure victory.

“The house of one of us was demolished on the election day by the Opposition party in her state to distract her from canvassing votes for the party.

“The son of one of us was kidnapped a day to the presidential election

“Another woman was detained in the police station for 3 days on the election day.
“Then one of us was involved in a ghastly motor accident during the campaign, because they did not want to hear of APC in her community and is still in and out of the hospital.

“Many of us got their cars damaged and some completely lost their personal cars during the campaigns and today, they are not mobile

“The women have not been compensated for all their pains and sacrifices, we are feeling neglected.”

The women who seized the occasion to pass a vote of confidence on Alhaji Ganduje as the APC National chairman, pledged total support to his leadership of the party.

Responding to the demands of the Forum for inclusivity, the APC National Chairman disclosed that more appointments that will include women will be made by administration adding that the women at the grassroots would also be involved in the upcoming party membership registration soon to Kickstart in the different states.
