Again, MNJTF Troops repel ISWAP’s attack on Monguno town

The troops of Sector 3 Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have repelled attacks by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Monguno, the northern part of Borno State.

It was gathered that the ISWAP fighters attacked the town with heavy weapons on the night of Friday April 7, 2023 in an attempt to penetrate the most populous northern town.

Security sources disclosed that the Troops successfully pushed back the attackers, after engaging them in heavy gun battle.

Monguno is one out of the 27 local government areas of Borno state which has a distance of about 137.8 kilometers North of Maiduguri, the state capital.

The ISWAP terrorist group had previously launched a series of deadly attacks on the town but were mostly unsuccessful. By: Zagazola Makama
