Troops of the Nigerian Army under Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) late yesterday till today, Tuesday, raided a notorious terrorist camp in Aterayange, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, neutralizing several suspects and apprehending others.
The operation, which lasted from Monday night to Tuesday morning, was led by M. Babalola of the 1A Battalion following credible intelligence on the hideout of a wanted terrorist leader known as “Full Fire.”
Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) is a joint military task force established to combat terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes across Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba States.
Recovered items include assorted weapons and ammunition.
Security officials say the raid is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal enclaves and restore lasting peace in the Middle Belt region.
