Yemen’s Houthi group to continue attacks on Israel-bound ships

Yemen’s Houthi group on Friday vowed to continue attacks against Israel-bound commercial ships in the Red Sea, following the US-Britain airstrikes on its military sites.

“Yemen (Houthi sites) was subjected to a blatant U.S.-British aggression to protect Israel and to stop Yemen’s (Houthi group) operations in support of Gaza.’’

Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“They committed foolishness with this treacherous aggression, and they were wrong if they thought that they would deter Yemen from supporting Palestine and Gaza,’’ he said.

He added that the Houthi group would continue its attacks on Israeli ships or those heading to Israel’s ports.

The United States and Britain announced their attack hours before they carried it out.

The Houthis were seen evacuating their camps in the capital Sanaa and other provinces hours before the U.S.-Britain warplanes came to strike.

The Houthi group had escalated their attacks on Israel-linked ships since the Israel-Hamas conflict broke out on Oct. 7 to protest Israel’s offensive in Gaza.
