Ferscoat International School at its valedictory service for the 2023 graduates of the secondary and primary schools used the occasion to celebrate outstanding performance of its learners in external examinations.
In his speech at the event, the Director of Sports (DOS) Pastor Felix Ebenezer Opata said the school recorded her best performance ever in the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) and the West Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations for the year 2023.
In the JAMB scores, the DOS gave a breakdown of results of the 77 learners that sat for the examinations from the school as follows:
Top 5 learners scored as follows: 308, 312, 314, 315, and 315
15 students scored between 280-300
17 students scored between 260-279
16 students scored between 240-259
15 students scored between 220-239
8 students scored between 200-219
1 student scored below 200
The DOS again described the learners’ performance in the 2023 WASSCE as the best ever from the school since inception with five A1s in various subjects. In addition, 58 learners scored A1s, B2s, B3s in Mathematics.
The summary of the results as given by the DOS showed that the number of A1s recorded in all subjects by 78 learners is 148, the number of B2s recorded also in all subjects by the learners is 102, the number of B3s in all subjects is 227, number of Credits scored in all subjects is 188 while the number of those who scored less than credit in all subjects is 25.
The DOS also charged the graduating learners from both the primary and the secondary schools to imbibe the covenant success habits which can take anyone to the top in any endeavour.
In the exaltation given the learners and which opened the event of the day, Pastor Samuel Agbi of the Living Faith Church also known as Winners Chapel International, admonished the graduating learners on what is required to sustain their performance in their future educational pursuits. In his message entitled Build to last, Pastor Agbi counseled the learners to maintain a life of spirituality, be diligent and creative even as they embrace hard work. He equally admonished them to hold on to God till the end adding that only God knows the end from the beginning and who cannot fail them.
The head teacher of the primary school, Mrs Roseline Ashefor, also charged the graduating learners to set goals and trust in their abilities adding that; “you are not too young to set goals, set your goals high and let your dreams soar higher”.
The school principal, Fred Opata, in his speech said; “ I can attest that each one of you has shown qualities that can be transformed into success. You are an exceptional group of learners and I leave with the following; know yourself, control yourself and give yourself.
One of the highlights of the event was the speech delivered by the valedictorian, Adekoya Oluwafikunayomi, the overall best student who scored the highest in JAMB and also produced the best result in WAEC.
The event also witnessed the launching of the book authored by the DOS, entitled: FERSCOAT at 30: Citadel of Academic Excellence. The book chronicled the story of the rise of the school from inception into the reputation of excellence in learning for which it is known today.
