The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has expressed shock over the death of Prof. Eleazar Ikonne, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State.
APGA expressed its heartfelt condolences to the Ikonne family in a statement signed by Dr Victor Oye, National Chairman of the party, in Awka on Wednesday.
The party described the death as not only to Abia State but to the entire country.
According to APGA, the death of the erudite professor is not only a loss to Abia State but to the entire country because he contributed immeasurably to the training of many professionals as Vice Chancellor.
“I advise that political parties should not politicise the death but view it with sympathy and love.
“May God grant the soul of the deceased eternal happiness in heaven and the Ikonne family the fortitude to bear the grievous loss,” it stated.
Ikonne, an Optometrist, was the former Vice Chancellor of Abia State University. He died on Wednesday. (NAN)
