At Chatham House, INEC chairman assures on 2023 elections

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) Prof Mahmood Yakubu has assured that the elections as scheduled will go ahead on 25 February, 2023 despite rumours of a postponement because of insecurity in parts of the country.

Speaking at an event organised by the Chatham House think-tank in London, Prof Yakubu highlighted the extent of preparations done by the Commission to ensure a smooth conduct of the general elections.

Prof Yakubu said that 93.4 million people had registered to vote, with more than 74 million of them being between the ages of 18 and 49.
