Learners as well as parents must have a good academic plan for every year. Learners who fail exams do so because of lack of proper preparation. The following will aid learners secure better results at both internal and external exams:
“Draw up a personal reading timetable for your ward every term.
“Follow up on the personal reading of your ward by encouraging and checking the use of reading jotters. Teach them how to make jottings (nugget form).
“Constantly remind your ward about important dates such as test, projects, and exam. This way, he/she can prepare adequately for the test/exam.
“Ensure that all class activities and assignments are thoroughly done by your wards. Where it isn’t done, devise mechanisms/methods of achieving this.
“Periodic checks on work done by your ward is very important at encouraging them not to get relaxed and become over complacent.
“Parents and the school will give 35% but a child who invests in reading for at least 2hrs at JSS1 & 2 level, 3hrs at JSS3 level and 4hrs at SS3 level will attain a minimum of 45% through personal reading.
