OPS Applauds Gov Ambode For Supporting Addressing Standards Project

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has been applauded by the National President of the Association of Nigeria Courier Operators and representative of the Organised Private Sector on the National Addressing Standards Committee, Mr. Oladapo Siyanbola for supporting the project.

The new Addressing Standards Project, which seeks to promote the security of lives and property, encourage investments, as well as boost confidence of the international community in the country’s physical development, aims to enhance proper planning, urban regeneration and traffic management.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, Siyanbola commended the present administration for setting up a State Committee on Addressing Standards and urged Lagos to lead the South-West to fast-track the implementation of the Addressing Standards Project.

While observing that the South-South Governors are fast consolidating the implementation in their region, he said courier professionals and other stakeholders are looking up to Lagos State to leverage on the project to boost its status as the nerve centre of the Nigerian economy.

Bamigbetan said the Ministry will support the efforts to sensitise the general public on the merits of having a nationally integrated addressing system.

The Commissioner recalled that Lagos blazed the trail in 2009 when it successfully executed a uniform addressing system focused on streets across the State saying “this has been integrated into several digital applications and is being used by residents to find their way across the City”.
