NSCDC partners with ODIEC for credible elections

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has partnered with the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) to ensure credible elections.

In a statement signed by DSC Aidamenbor Daniel, NSCDC State spokesperson, in Akure said that the agreement was reached when Mr Joseph Igbekele, ODIEC Chairman, paid a working visit to the NSCDC State Commandant, Mr Ibiloye Oluyemi at his office in Akure.

Igbekele said that the purpose of his visit was to commend the corps on the existing relationship between the commission and the command.

“I am in the command today to solicit for more areas of partnership in view of the forthcoming July 13 local government election in the state,” the ODIEC chairman said.

In his remarks, Ibiloye assured the state electoral umpire of the readiness of the command to provide security coverage before, during, and after the election.

“We will build more on the existing relationship, and you can also be rest assured that NSCDC will ensure adequate security during the election.

“We are not greenhorn when it comes to elections in Nigeria. We just participated in the primary election of the APC in the state.

“So, we are going to play a vital role in this electoral process,” Ibiloye said.

ODIEC had re-scheduled conduct of elections into the 18 Local Government councils of the state, from February to July 13, 2024.
