Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the three senatorial districts of Kwara state has called for the dissolution of the Ishola Balogun-Fulani led executives of the party in the state.
Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, told journalists in Oro, Kwara on Saturday that he had been holding consultations with the stakeholders in the state.
Mohammed, who read the resolution of the stakeholders added that the dissolution of the executive became necessary in view of the recent development in the party.
According to him, though the stakeholders recognized the Bashir Bolarinwa faction, they also ordered for its dissolution to allow a level playing field for fresh members to the party.
He said the National headquarter of the party should organise fresh congresses at the ward, local government and state level to elect new executives to pilot the affairs of the party in Kwara State.
The resolution reads: “That Balogun Fulani-led Kwara APC executive committee be immediately dissolved and a fresh congress that will include all Kwara APC members and those who are just coming into the party be held at the various levels to constitute a new executive.
Mohammed said that the stakeholders called on all those who got appointments by deceit, hiding under the facade of being party men and women to resign their appointments immediately or be fired.
“That the recent gale of defections has now put the APC in a position of true majority in the National Assembly, as those who remain are the ones who are truly committed to the ideals of our great Party,” the resolution added.
The stakeholders called on APC members and supporters to restate their unflinching support for President Muhammadu Buhari and assure him of a harvest of votes from Kwara State in the 2019 General Elections.
They also called on all members of APC to remain calm, saying that there was no cause for alarm.
