Gombe Gov Aides Celebrate PPS, Jauro’s Award, Recognition By NLC

The recent recognition award given to the Principal Private Secretary to Governor Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State, Dr. Sani Jauro by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)has been celebrated by staff of the government house and aides to the Governor.

Jauro was honoured as part of the activities to mark the 40 years anniversary of the NLC as workers union.

In a statement, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor of Gombe State, Junaidu Usman said: “Congratulations to our mentor, one of our own, a resourceful personality contributor Of human development director Pen Resources Academy and Principal Private Sectary to His Execellency executive governor of gombe state Dr Sani Jauro Dan lawan of Gombe..Sir I congratulate you on your well deserved award sir.

In his response to the recognition conferred on him at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe, Dr. Jauro said: “I stand here before you to give a short speech on behalf of all the recipients of the various awards of excellence given to us today by the highest decision making body of the Labour Movement in Nigeria, Gombe State Chapter.

“We thank Allah (SWT) for making it possible for us to see a big day like this in our life. We also thank all the Governors of the state from its creation in 1996 to date for giving us the opportunity to serve in our various capacities without which we might not have been celebrating here today as appointment into the service is at the pleasure of the Governors.

“Words cannot express our gratitude to the Nigerian Labour Congress Gombe State Chapter. This is because, for a highly reputable organization of the caliber of the NLC, a canopy of the people that create the wealth of the nation; an organization that is ever upright, ever radical, ever at the vanguard of positive struggle, ever relentlessly critical and ever tenaciously patriotic to single us out from amongst multitudes and find us worthy of this invaluable honour, is certainly the climax of our fulfillment in the service. We feel truly honoured. May Allah reward the NLC and of course the indefatigable state chairman, Comrade Haruna Kamara and his EXCO members with more wisdom, more strength, more foresight and more patriotism to continue to innovate programmes like this award to ginger the workers to do more in the service of our dear nation.

“Let me hasten to add that the credit for these awards does not belong to we the recipients alone. It also goes to our colleagues in the service, junior and senior, young and old, serving and retired that have worked with us directly or indirectly, because without their constant support and cooperation, our impact, which is in fact the result of a compendium of the collective efforts of all of us, may not have been noticed by the NLC and therefore would not have culminated into the various awards we have just received. Therefore, to all our colleagues, serving and retired, we say both thank you and congratulations; our collective efforts have yielded very big fruits today.

“These awards we have received are telling us that to whom much is given much is expected. I therefore wish to assure the entire NLC and His Excellency, the Governor that we are going to rededicate ourselves and surrender our best in service of our dear state and the nation at large.

“To our friends, relatives, family members and all those that have come here to rejoice with us, we say a very big thank you. May Allah bless us all.

Dr. Sani Jauro was born on 6th march 1967 into the family of Late Malam Jauro Gombe. His father Malam Jauro Danlawal Gombe was a veteran teacher, a headmaster, a visiting teacher and school manager in charge of the whole area that is known as Gombe State today in 1934, a first generation politician and a renowned technocrat. His father groomed him from childhood to imbibe the culture of hard work, dedication, honesty and sacrifice. These are indeed the keys that opened the doors to his attainment of excellence, which we are celebrating here today.

He attended Central Primary School Gombe (1971-1978); GSS Billiri (1978-1983); University of Maiduguri (Unimaid) (1984-1988); and,  Unimaid and University of Abuja Postgraduate Schools. He holds BA English (Second Class Honours, Upper Division) (1988), MA English (1995), Masters Degree in Public Administration (1997) and PhD Public in Administration and Policy Analysis (2004). Dr. Sani Jauro is probably the only civil servant in the history of Gombe State that has to his credit a first degree, two (2) master degrees and a PhD in areas that are very critical to the making of an outstanding civil servant (i.e. English and, Public Administration and Policy Analysis).

Being the best graduating student of his department, the University of Maiduguri employed him to teach in that department immediately after his NYSC (1989) at the age of 22 years. He left the university on Leave of Absence after lecturing for nine (9) years (in 1998) to start a career in administration. He was one of the pioneer staff of the FMC Gombe (1998). He worked briefly with National Health Insurance Scheme, Abuja and later transferred his services to the Gombe State Government as Assistant Director in January 2003. He was posted to the Special Services and Political Affairs Bureau in the SSG’s office. Part of his duties was to write speeches for the Governor and process special services policy documents for government decision and, the implementation of such decisions. This was where he started making his mark of distinction in the service. Within a period three (3) years he earned four (4) letters of commendation for hard work and diligence. He was, in fact, literally an indelible workhorse, combining his tasking schedules of speech writing, handling of sensitive policy issues, etc, with the secretary work of two or three committees as well as other special assignments, all running concurrently, without letting anyone of them suffer any setback. These he did with requisite loyalty and due official secrecy. These exploits earned him double promotion to the level of Director of Administration in 2005. He was later promoted to the rank of Permanent Secretary in charge of Government House and equally appointed Principal Private Secretary to the Governor in May 2007 during the Second term of the immediate past administration. A post he was retained to hold by the current administration to date.

During the period from 2007 to date, he served as Ag SSG for five (5) different periods of time. During all these Acting times, he combined the challenging work of his office as Permanent Secretary/Principal Private Secretary to Governor as well as that of the SSGs office. Daunting as it may be, in all these, Dr. Sani Jauro had never been found wanting. No failures at all in the discharge of his duties.

Your Excellency, before the NLC concluded to give him this award it conducted a thorough background check on Dr. Sani Jauro. There was not even a single claim that he ever discriminated against anybody on the basis of religion, culture, tribe, political affiliation or creed. The NLC has never found anybody claiming to have given him any form of bribe throughout his service life.

Dr. Jauro was a winner of the Gombe State Public Administrator of the Year 2009 and a recipient of the National Assembly award of the Best Permanent Secretary from Gombe State (2004).

He has published many articles in accredited academic journals one of the most recent of which Is titled “The Hausa Language and Corruption in the Public Service: a Cognitive Semantic Study of the Expressions “Alfarmaa” and “a taimakaa” (2016).
