Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, declared on Tuesday that troops’ welfare was his topmost priority.
Lagbaja made the declaration at the inauguration of intervention projects completed by the Division at Abakpa Cantonment in Enugu.
The projects included a Neuroscience and Wellness Centre, a Specialist Outpatient Department/Urology Clinic and a Nursing Station at the 82 Division Medical Services and Hospital.
Others are the remodelled Soldiers’ Club and soldiers’ transit accommodation.
Lagbaja commended the Commander 82 Division Hospital for ensuring the projects were completed in good time.
“The newly inaugurated medical projects will greatly boost the capacity of the hospital to address the health needs of residents of Abakpa Cantonment and neighbouring communities,’’ he said.
He noted that the remodelled Soldiers’ Club would provide an environment conducive for soldiers and their families to rest after a busy day.
“The newly-constructed soldiers’ transit accommodation will alleviate some of the challenges soldiers in transit face in relation to accommodation.
“I charge beneficiaries of the various projects to ensure their judicious use and constant maintenance so they can serve for a long time,’’ Lagbaja added.
