… Our Niche Is Zero Tolerance For Exam Malpractice
Ferscoat International School, Ipaja, Lagos, on September 29, 2022 clocked 30 years and to mark the milestone, the management has line up activities to commemorate the milestone.
At a media parley to start the activities, the Director of Studies and proprietor who started the vision three decades ago, Pastor Felix Opata said that the school over the years has contributed to the human capital development needs of the country.
The event was held at the newly completed school complex scheduled to be dedicated in December as part of the 30th anniversary..
Addressing newsmen at the event, Pastor Opata said education is the bedrock of any growing or developing economy therefore with this in mind, the school over the years has made positive impact in education within and outside the country.
According to him, Ferscoat School by all standards is one of the acclaimed names in the educational sector in Nigeria. Its transition to prominence has been a systematic process which began in September 1992.
“In these 30 years we have seen the school grow in infrastructure from rented block of 4 flats to a two – storey building made up of 28 rooms and to a three- storey building made up of 40 classrooms and more,” he said.
He added: “As at today 29th September, our primary school is 30 years old and the secondary school is 25 years old. In these years the primary school has graduated about 1200 learners while the secondary school has turned out about 1000 learners. Currently the primary school has about 300 pupils while the secondary school has about 700 students.
Opata who is also the proprietor of the school, revealed that many of their products graduated from the university with First Class and Second Class upper degrees.
“This is because we train our learners to be independent. In fact Ferscoat School does not assist its learners in WAEC and NECO, as our niche is zero tolerance for Examination Malpractice.
“It is worthy of note to say that the school has produced graduates in various fields of endeavor including Medicine, Engineering, Law, and in the Academia.
Presently Ferscoat learners are all around the world doing great things.
On the population of the school, the proprietor said currently the primary school has about 300 pupils while the secondary school has about 700 students.
“In the last 30 years the primary school has graduated about 1200 learners while the secondary school has turned out about 1000 learners.”
On the future plans for the school, the Proprietor said in the next two years and with the completion of this edifice the school will be introducing subjects in the vocational and technical fields including tailoring, carpentry, bricklaying, hair dressing catering, welding and fitting (metal work).
“Also to commemorate this 30th anniversary the school has started a scholarship scheme for the Olude, Ipaja indigenes, ten scholarships have been awarded to the people of Olude Community as a way of giving back to the community,” he disclosed.
On the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU strike, Opata said the incessant strikes by the union has become worrisome and this is affecting public universities for over seven months.
“It has become imperative for the academic union to fight for the improvement of decaying educational system and for the government to listen to their pleas and yield to their demands because individuals especially youths when kept idle will tend to misuse the period of idleness.
“For the sake of the innocent students, I want to appeal to government not to ignore the demands of the University teachers who are making enormous sacrifices for the future of the students in spite circumstances that are not encouraging.”
Activities to commemorate the anniversary according to the management will commence on October 15th, 2022 with health check and end on December, 16th, 2022 with an anniversary celebration.
