Ferscoat School used the occasion of its 23rd valedictory to celebrate its award winning learner, Muogim David, who scored the highest in the last Joint Admission and Matriculation Board examinations (JAMB) and who also emerged with the best result in the West African Examination Certificate (WAEC).
The learner who scored the 345 in JAMB also recorded 7As, 1B2 and B3 to equal the record earlier set in 2012 and 2015 by learners of Ferscoat School.
David, according to the Director of Studies (DOS), Pastor Felix Opata, started his Nursery and Primary school education in Ferscoat, thus was considered the school’s direct product.
Apart from the valedictorian, the DOS also other impressive performance of the 2024 set in the external examinations. There were other learners who scored 6A1s 3Bs, two learners scored 5A1s and 4Bs and more than 25 of them scored 3A1s and 6Bs.
The DOS also disclosed that among the graduating set, Adebambo Esther came third in the MAN Olympiad Mathematics and has qualified for the national competition which comes up on August 26, 2024. In addition, an SS2 student of the school, Idowu Oluwadamilola, also emerged third in the Oluwole Awosika Chemistry Competition among secondary and set a record of becoming the first female to secure a podium position.
The DOS also charged the students to build effectively on the foundation they have established as learners while school and embrace lifelong learning adding that education does not end with graduation from secondary school.
In his words: Continue to seek knowledge, explore new interests and remain curious.
The Principal Fred Opata also commended the performance of the learners and the graduating set for their determination to bear the pressue and to emerge successful at the end.
According to him; the performance of the learners was the result of years of hard work, dedication and perseverance urging them to reflect on the what brought them in contact with the school and to look forward with excitement and anticipation of the future that awaits them.
He also praised the staff and parents for the support given to the school always thus making the success being celebrates possible both for the learners and the school.
The school recorded 100 per cent in the WAEC performance with all the 99 learners presented for the examination scoring impressive grades enough to grant them admissions into tertiary institutions.
In the overall results the school recorded the following performance;
Students with 100 per cent- 66
Students with 85 to 99.9%-28
Students with 75-84.9%- 5
