DSS bows to pressure, releases NLC president

The Department of State Security (DSS) has bowed to pressure from labour unions to release President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Joe Ajaero.

The labour leader was on his way to the United Kingdom on Monday for a Trade Union Congress (TUC) event when he was arrested at Abuja airport.

The Union executive members met late Monday to issue a statement for the immediate and unconditional release of Ajaero failure of which threaten to embark on strike action.

Ajaero disclosed to newsmen the he was quizzed by DSS and Police personnel for about 15 hours before he was allowed to go.

He was on his to a seminar in London before he was arrested at the Airport.
