Coomassie: Borno Gov, Shettima, Visits Bereaved Family In Katsina 

Governor of Borno and Chairman, Northern States Governors’ Forum, Kashim Shettima, travelled from Maiduguri to Katsina State on Sunday on a condolence visit to the family of late Ibrahim Coomassie, former Inspector General of Police who until his death, was Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum, a body of elders from Northern Nigeria.


Shettima had previously sent a message of condolence on behalf of 19 Governors within the northern Nigeria before he followed up with a personal visit.


Accompanied by some senior government officials, Governor Shettima was received by Alhaji Dahiru Coomassie, younger brother to the late Coomassie at the residence of the deceased in Katsina town.


During his condolence, Shettima paid tribute to the former IGP, saying he has bequeathed a good name for which his family will always be proud and remembered for. He prayed Allah grants him Aljanna Firdaus and to his family and all of us, the fortitude to bear this loss.


Coomassie died at the age of 76, and is survived by one wife, six children and many grand children. Before his death, Coomassie was the Sardauna Katsina of Emir of Katsina and Garkuwan Hausa of Emir of Daura.
