APC NEC Extends Tenure Of Chairman, Other Officials

The National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress at its meeting held in Abuja, has extended the tenure of party officials and elected officials by one year.

Against all speculations of possible dissolution of the executive committee, the party chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and all other elected and appointed party officials remains in office for one more year.

This development may further deepen the internal crisis in the ruling APC which led to the president setting up a reconciliation committee headed by a chieftain of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu had written a letter of complaint to Odigie-Oyegun which he copied to President Muhammadu Buhari  in which he accused Chief Oyegun of sabotaging his reconciliation efforts in the party.

Observers of the development rocking the party however said that the Chairman prior to the NEC meeting had secured the confidence and support of the Governors and other members of the committee to get an extension for the officials.
