Shun Partisan Politics; Ikupolati Warns Corps Members In Kwara

The State Coordinator, NYSC Kwara  State, Mrs Ikupolati Esther Tosin has warned all the Corps members serving in the state to stay clear of partisan politics.

The State Coordinator made this warning on Thursday in Kaiama while on an inspection of Corps members serving in Kiaiama Local Government Area of the State.

She said NYSC as a scheme is apolitical in all its operations, therefore, members were not allowed to be involved in partisan politics. 

Ikupolati reminded the Corps members of the existing collaboration between the INEC and the NYSC scheme, where Corps members has always serve as ad hoc staff during the elections.

“And as umpire in the forthcoming elections, you must not, in any way involved in partisan politics, that may undermine the success of the exercise,” she added.

She recalled the international and national commendations received by their predecessors, who gallantly participated in the previous elections in the country.

The State Coordinator, therefore called on the Corps members to be patriotic and law abiding before, during and after the 2019 general elections.

Ikupolati stressed that the security and the welfare of Corps members, who would be participating in the polls will not be comprised in any way.

According to her, NYSC has been assured by both the INEC and the security apparatus in the state of adequate structures are on ground to secure the Corps members during and after the exercise. 

The State Coordinator also visited the Divisional Police headquarters, the traditional rulers, and several other stakeholders.

NYSC Assistant Director, Corps  Inspection and Monitoring in the State , Mr Ifeolu Oketade and the Zonal Inspector, Mr Looqman Aleshinloye were part of the State coordinator’s entourage during the inspection tour.
