Police, Immigration, hand over 48 human trafficking victims to NAPTIP

 Nigeria Immigration Service has handed over about 21 suspected victims of human trafficking to the Kano Zonal Office of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP), rescued at the Kongolom border in Katsina state.

Speaking, the Zonal Coordinator of the agency in Kano, Abdullahi Babale, those rescued on Sunday, 27 February, 2022 to include 13 females and 8 males.

Babale further revealed that another set of 27 victims were also rescued at the same kongolam border and handed over to NAPTIP by the Nigerien Police on Monday, 28 February, 2022.

According to him, “the rescued victims, 15 females and 12 men, were on their way to Libya, Tunisia and Europe.”

NAPTIP has started an in depth investigation over the two incidents and would prosecute the traffickers shortly, an official indicated.
