FG Releases N4.5bn To Pay Resident Doctors’ COVID-19 Allowance

The Federal Government has released a total sum of N4.5bn to 31 Federal Teaching and Medical Centers in the country.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige,  said the amount donated is expected to cover hazard and inducement allowances for the month of April and May.

He revealed this on Friday after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, while briefing State House Correspondents in Abuja.

Commenting on the announcement, popular Medical Doctor and health information enthusiast, Dr Olufunmilayo shared the information on his twitter handle, commending the federal government on the release of these funds. However, what followed were a series of comments expressing doubt authenticity of the funds released.

Earlier this week, resident doctors announced the commencement of a nationwide “indefinite strike” which was met with a ‘no work no pay rule’ threat by the government on the striking doctors.
